Just arrived, we have an absolutely excellent sounding and playing player-grade 1941 Martin D-18.

This guitar has been refinished and has numerous cleated back side and top cracks on the body.

There are two splices in the top, both of them fill cracks between the bridge and tail block, there are also two more closed cracks between the bridge and tailblock. There are three more cracks between the bridge and the sound hole. the soundhole rosette adjacent to one of these cracks has been sanded thin when the top was sanded prior to the re-finish. There are two sealed cracks on either side of the fingerboard extension. Luckily, there is no deflection around the soundhole and the neck-body joint is solid. On the interior, the bridge plate is original. Most of the braces and the popsicle brace under the finger board extension have been reglued. numerous side cracks have been cleated and a couple of back cracks as well.

The bridge, frets, and tuners are replacements. The pickguard is original. The neck, like the body, has also been refinished though the headplate retains its original finish and decal The action is excellent, as is the relief and playability. This has the earlier 1941 neck with a T-bar truss rod support. Due to wartime shortages, the T-bar would soon be replaced with an ebony truss rod for the duration of WWII.

This is an excellent player grade instrument retaining the power and projection we have come to expect from these vintage guitars. The neck is just about perfect. A little bit larger than a modern neck, but far more comfortable than most of the war time Martin examples.

It is in a new hardshell case.
