This is a Factory original white Travis Bean TB2000 bass, serial number 433, made in 1976. It features an aluminum neck bolted into a routed channel on the back of the all-koa body. The neck has a rosewood fingerboard with a brass nut, twenty frets and pearl dot markers at the third, fifth, seventh, ninth, twelfth, fifteenth, seventeenth and nineteenth frets. The headstock features a set of the original Schaller chrome bass tuners. The original chrome tailpiece is mounted into a shallow route and both pickups are mounted on the aluminum block behind the body. The electronics feature two volume and two tone knobs with a three way toggle selector switch. The knobs themselves are black speed knobs with numbers printed at the base of each. The electronics cavity is covered with an aluminum plate.

There is a humbucking pickup in the neck position and a single coil pickup in the bridge position. The neck pickup is a later replacement of unknown manufacture. As a result of the pickup swap, the two anchor bolts which mount to the back of the guitar are now missing. The bridge pickup is factory original, as are the electronics, with the only disturbance being the replacement of the pickup leads for the neck pickup. There is a solidly glued crack around the endpin extending from the end of the routed cavity on the back over to the base of the bridge on the front. A chip in the finish reveals the koa below at the bottom edge near the control knobs. The finish has aged from the factory white to a butter yellow patina, with rub-through revealing the original white on the bass side of the top.

The frets are the original medium size fretwire, dressed down somewhat, but with plenty of life left. There is one replaced bolt on the gear of the D string tuner. It is functioning well, so we have elected not to change it.

Overall, this is a nicely preserved example of a rare and unusual custom color TB2000. It plays beautifully and it is rare to see the factory white finish mostly intact.
