1996 Breedlove C2 "Deschutes" Steve Henderson Masterbuilt Cedar/Sapele
This is a 1996 C2 Concert Model acoustic non-cutaway x-braced guitar with a cedar top and figured sapele back and sides. The neck is Mahogany with an Ebony bridge and fingerboard. The headplate is black and white bound striped ebony with a black ebony truss rod cover and six mini Grover sealed gold tuners with black ebony buttons. The binding on the neck and body is bloodwood. The body purfling is 4-ply black and white, the back is 2-ply black and white and there are a pair of 3-ply black and white rings on either side of segmented abalone for the rosette.
The position markers are each a different shape representing aquatic life, with double bound fingerboard binding on the top and triple bound, with abalone side dots, at the edges. The heel cap is laminated bloodwood and the end wedge is double bound bloodwood as well. Unlike most guitars of this vintage, there is no built-in pickup.
The body measures 15 ¼” across the lower bout and 11 ⅛” across the upper. The neck measures 1 ¾” at the nut with a 2 5/16” spacing at the saddle. Maximum body depth is 4 ½” at the lower bout. The neck is a slim and comfortable “D” profile. The guitar plays with a softer attack than most of this size, lending the guitar an unusual mellow character, due mainly to the choice of cedar for the top.
The label is marked C2/DESCHUTES and is signed by Steve Henderson. The condition is excellent overall, with few, if any, signs of wear.
Includes HSC.
